A Ukrainian artist who intentionally subverts traditional forms to offer fresh perspectives on age-old ideas.
Mykola Kuryliuk, a Ukrainian contemporary artist, graduated from the Kossiv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts with a degree in woodcarving and later from the Lviv National Academy of Arts. His artistic journey has been marked by experimentation and a unique perspective.
Kuryliuk's "Augmented Reality" series is a bold exploration of individuality and society, blending pop art and street art elements. By juxtaposing iconic images with unexpected elements, he creates visually striking compositions that challenge conventional perceptions. His works often feature famous figures, animals, and objects, deconstructed and reassembled in unconventional ways, inviting viewers to question their understanding of reality.
A central theme in Kuryliuk's art is the exploration of social dynamics, inequality, and the blurred lines between truth and falsehood. His vibrant color palette, combined with his signature technique of layering and deconstruction, creates a visual language that is both familiar and unsettling.
Through his art, Kuryliuk invites viewers to embark on a visual journey that blurs the lines between the past, present, and future. His work is a testament to the power of art to provoke thought, spark conversation, and challenge our perceptions of the world around us.
